THE XTRI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN EXTREME TRIATHLON

August 7th saw the second annual (with a gap) XTRI World Championship in Extreme Triathlon race at Norseman.

The original format of the race (in 2019) gave green swim caps and a different finisher shirt the the World Championship athletes, denoting them as “elite”.

But we have now changed this to fully integrate the races so Norseman IS the World Championship. It’s the final stop on the tour to attain the title. Qualification is through the other XTRI World Tour races, via Norseman itself or by invitation. But all athletes who start on the ferry in Eidfjord are entitled to fight for the title, even if they simply applied and were accepted by ballot.

This year’s race was smaller due to the pandemic but still exciting with both winners being from Norway and some fabulous times.
